Elburton Village public loos on Springfield Road in Plymstock need a spring clean and an upgrade, that’s according to Liberal Democrat campaigner Steve Guy.

Steve, who is standing as the Lib Dem candidate for the area in the city council elections on 7 May, said: “The loos can be a godsend for anyone caught short while out and about.”

He continued: “While the basics work, the loos are dimly lit, the facilities like the handbasin are dilapidated and overall it’s pretty dingy. There is also some vandalism, and some of the stuff that’s scratched into the paintwork is clearly not something people need to see.”

The Liberal Democrat campaigner is calling on the council to give the loos, which are an important facility for Elburton residents and visitors, an upgrade, with better lighting and updated handwashing facilities as well as removing vandalism, especially the offensive vandalism.

“Right now, the loos could give people a negative impression of the area,” Steve added. “The council should get that fixed. Leaving it only helps feed the belief that places like Elburton get ignored by a distant council. We need councillors who will speak up for local people and be heard.”
