Fix one pothole, fix them all: Lib Dem candidate calls for common sense repairs
Council teams out fixing potholes should also fix other potholes they can see while they are there, according to Liberal Democrat council candidate for Plymstock Dunstone Steve Guy.
Steve’s call follows him being shown a pothole in Dunstone View, near the junction with Woodway, where one pothole had been filled in but another right next to it had been left untouched.
Commenting, the Lib Dem candidate said: “This is madness. One pothole repaired, but another, a few steps away – which I believe has now been marked for repair – left unrepaired.
“Last year, Liberal Democrat-run Devon County Council trialled a system where the teams fixing potholes were empowered to fix other potholes they could see at the same time, while they were there and had the equipment.
“That is a good dose of solid Lib Dem common sense, and is something we need to see more of here in the city.”
Fixing the poor state of Plymouth’s roads is a priority for the Lib Dems going into the city council elections on 7 May. Potholes damage cars as well as being a real safety risk to cyclists and can injure pedestrians as they cross the road.
